Tet Festival (Vietnamese New Year)

Tet - Vietnamese New Year - runs for ten days once the travelling to and from home regions is taken into account. Vietnam closes for the central week of the festival, as people spend the period home with families. In the lead up to Tet, roads all over Vietnam are thronged with trees travelling on the back of motorcycles. A cumquat or cherry blossom tree is traditional in the home at Tet. After Tet, families release goldfish into lakes for the local kitchen god's journey to the Jade Emperor.
