The streets in Gracia are really steep, enough so that escalators have been installed in some locations. Its just a shame that we didn't find them when carrying our heavy packs to our hostel.

Barcelona is a densely populated city (16,500/sq km, according to wikipedia) squeezed between mountains and the sea. It's streets are canyons. But for all that it maintains a very livable feel. Whether by intent or by temperament, the city works.

I was excited on seeing a poster for a CNT rally to experience good old-school anarchist fire-and-brimstone. On our way to the CNT rally we happened across the USOC march. lead by the Taboo drum troupe. Lost of good energy noise and socially relavant banners as they wound their way through Barcelona.
We did make it to the CNT rally eventually. Very tame with a couple of anarchist book stalls, other merchandise, and what sounded like very dull speeches. Go USOC!
